Minutes of the General Assembly Present : President Theodosios Liappis, Vice President Stavros Stathopoulos, Treasurer Georgios Passes, Chairman of the General Assembly Dimitrios Triantafyllis and Μembers : Konstantinos Liappis, Stavroula liappis,Vasileios Liappis, Athanasios Katis, Effie Kontou, Georgia Triantafylli, Alexandra Liappis, Theodora Karavaggelou, Margarita Liappis, Nikolaos Kontos, Konstantinos S. Stathopoulos, Pavlos Stathopoulos, Eleftherios Karavaggelos. After having lunch and discussing about Greece and our summer visit there, the General Assembly began. The Chairman welcomed everyone and the discussion started. The presence of the President Th. Liappis was acknowledged and his hard work and his continuously giving of many years to our Association was pointed out. The presence of previous President Nikolaos Kontos, who travelled from Winston Salem with his spouse Effie, was also acknowledged. The Meeting started and the President was the first speaker. Next spoke the Vice President followed by the Treasurer. A disagreement occurred because no General Assembly took place for the last two or three years. The issues that were discussed and decided upon were the following: 1) The «ENOSIS» magazine will not be issued anymore, because the publication costs are tremendous. Instead, a newsletter will be circulated with news from the Members and our Association as long as the Secretary can or is willing to take care of it. If that’s not possible, then nothing is going to be published. 2) The book that our Association has decided to publish with the initiative of our Treasurer, Georgios Passes, will include personal experiences and narrations of our Members from their lives in Greece, their immigration and living in the U.S.A. The Treasurer explained the whole project and presented a sample of the book. Most of the members were in support of publishing, but a few were opposed. After all the opinions were expressed, it was decided unanimously that the Treasurer will continue the project and get the book published and at the same time he has to update the President regarding that matter. It is decided and approved by the General Assembly that all the expenses for preparing, publishing and distributing this book will be entirely an obligation of the Members whose stories would be included in it and the treasury of our Association will NOT be charged at all. 3) A letter of condolences by our President Theodosios Liappis was read for the recent death of the Priest, Konstantinos Vastakis. It was proposed that our Association offers an amount of money in his memory and it was unanimously decided to offer 1.000$ to the Folk Museum of Megalo Horio. 4) The elections were postponed because the financial review and bank statements were not submitted. The President will be in contact with the Treasurer, the Secretary and the Vice President so that all the financial matters will be in order before the future elections. This decision was approved. 5) The food expenses were paid by the treasury of our Association. 6) The hymn of the miraculous Panagia Proussiotissis was sung. 7) End of the Assembly.
